Special Welcome to Mesothelioma Community and Associated Extraordinary Challenging Diseases
Maintaining your weight is a difficult challenge when you are enduring chemotherapies and radiation treatments. The side effects of these treatments are frequent bouts of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. As a result the appetite is radically absent, and body weight begins to plummet. The delicate balance of keeping your body weight is related to being able to keep fighting your fight. Often the ability to maintain a decent body weight is a direct link to keeping your immunity strong.
Whether it is breast cancer or Mesothelioma, this is a time when a delicious dense nutrient is an important strategy. Providing this strategy when possible will be crucial to maintain your body weight. The short term goal is to improve the small amount of energy that you are able to conserve. This increase will also help improve your quality of life.
Here are some suggestions that I have found helpful:
- Repopulate your gut. Chemotherapy and radiation alter the normal flora in the gastro intestinal tract. Try using some of the over-the-counter products that contain lacto bacillus, and other associated organisms. Use them frequently, assuming that the GI tract will be depleted of these organisms after treatments just like they do with antibiotics.
- Even though I dislike popular nutritional shake products, many people use them. In a previous message, I describe the general composition of nutritional shakes. However if you add some cream and protein powder to it, you will be able to improve it to the extent you need. This strategy provides additional fat and protein.
- Drink lots of water.
- Try a great recipe for Hero Nutrient Protein Bars
