History of the Malnutrition Epidemic
For the last 50 years our social cultures have enjoyed abundance. This abundance has extended into all areas of life. Yet the diseases of malnutrition and over-nutrition threaten our systems of wealth as well as our health. The truth today is that our culture is threatened by the disease systems of Insulin Resistance. Over 60% of Americans are dangerously over fat. 70% of physician visits, trips to the pharmacy, and visits to the emergency room are stemming from the diseases associated with being over weight. We know if we lose weight, everything gets better. What keeps us stuck, waiting, postponing? It is intellectual resistance and emotional justification. This is wait and weight.
Looking at someone who is starving creates sympathy and social activism. Yet, we hardly view the obese individual as someone who is starving. This is the true picture of what is taking place. There are large amounts of energy suspended, unable to be used. It is the chemistry of food combined with the statistics of family genetics that causes our problems.
